Advent marks the beginning of the church’s year and opens a season of quiet expectation. It is a time when Christians prepare, in heart and mind, for the birth of Jesus Christ: the moment when God stepped into the world and love took on flesh. In our services the mood shifts to help us slow down. We use different music that carries a more reflective tone, and clergy vest in purple to symbolise watchfulness, preparation and hope.
