Welcome to schools

We are proud to have strong and growing relationships with a wide range of schools in Barnet and the wider area, at both primary and secondary level. We are always delighted to welcome schools into the life of St John the Baptist through services of celebration and worship.

Our unique setting

Our historic church, with its long-standing tradition of education and worship, offers a uniquely special setting for school services. The grandeur and beauty of our building—with its soaring architecture, hand-carved pews, stained glass windows and deep sense of history—makes every school occasion feel meaningful and memorable. Our large capacity also means we can comfortably welcome students, staff, families and guests together.

Music and the young

We currently host a variety of services, including the celebration of the foundation of Queen Elizabeth’s School and Queen Elizabeth’s Girls’ School, as well as Christmas services and evensongs for both primary and secondary schools.

Music is central to our mission as a church: to encourage musicianship among young people in Barnet and to use music to enrich the life of the whole community. Our outstanding Hill organ, choir pews and superb acoustic make SJB the ideal space for services that include musical performance.
