School visits to the Church

School visits

St John the Baptist Barnet Church welcomes school visits and offers an engaging learning experience for primary pupils. The church is open for school visits on Tuesdays. If you require a visit on a different day, please let us know and we will be happy to check our availability.

The Church is the most significant historic building in Barnet. A visit to SJB Church would be a huge opportunity to show it off to children (maybe of different faiths or none) who may otherwise never see the inside of such a wonderful building.

The Programme

In the Programme of the school visit are included:

an exciting Church Trail that lets pupils to explore the Church’s secrets and hidden gems;
a presentation about the Church and talks about upcoming religious holidays;
an opportunity to meet the Vicar (who loves dressing up!) and to listen to organ music.

We suggest you bring one class (30 pupils) at a time but, if there are more wishing to visit at the same time, we could organize a joined visit with Barnet Museum. At the Museum a range of talks, workshops and fun activities are available, which can be tailored to different age groups.
