Lecture by Dr Alison Weir – Queens at War
Saturday 25 April, 3pm at St John the Baptist Church, Barnet
We are delighted to welcome Dr Alison Weir, the United Kingdom’s top‑selling female historian and internationally acclaimed author of over 3 million books, for a fascinating afternoon exploring the extraordinary lives of England’s medieval queens.
Dr Weir has written twenty‑two acclaimed history books — including Eleanor of Aquitaine, The Lady in the Tower, and Elizabeth of York — along with seventeen historical novels. Her newest biography, Queens at War, and her forthcoming novel The Boleyn Secret (May 2026) continue her celebrated work bringing history vividly to life.
Join us on 25 April at 3pm as Dr Weir leads us through the triumphs, tragedies, love, loss, and political intrigue that shaped the lives of five remarkable fifteenth‑century queens: Joan of Navarre, Katherine of Valois, Margaret of Anjou, Elizabeth Woodville, and Anne Neville. These queens stood by England's sovereigns and were caught up in wars that changed their lives - and the course of History.
There will also be an opportunity to purchase Dr Weir’s latest book, Queens at War: England’s Medieval Queens. There will be a book signing opportunity.
Doors will be open from 2.15pm, refreshments will be available.
We look forward to welcoming you for what promises to be a captivating and memorable afternoon.
